Souling #201: The “Ick” is on!

Ever just wake up and feel… off?

Like your pants fit tighter than they did yesterday.

Your face looks different in the mirror.

Your body feels heavier, older—like you aged overnight.

That’s me today.

No deep reason. No dramatic trigger. Just the slow, creeping ick that settles in out of nowhere. The kind that whispers, “You’re not enough. Not doing enough. Not looking the way you should. Not feeling like yourself.”

I wanted to fight it at first—pull on a different outfit, fake some pep, push through like it’s not there. But what I really need is a moment of truth. A breath. A little compassion. A reminder that this, too, is part of the journey.

So instead of spiraling, I’m sitting.

Instead of fixing, I’m feeling.

And I’m asking myself gently:

What is this ick here to teach me?

Because sometimes the ick is sacred.

Sometimes it’s just a signal from my soul to slow down, soften, and come back to myself.

If you’re in it too, you’re not alone.

Let’s turn the ick into insight, the discomfort into presence, the pressure into grace.

Still showing up.

Still souling.

Even (especially) on days like this.

Keep souling, ya’ll!

Mindy
